UC EC update? URGENT

I am a transfer applicant and there have been some changes in my EC.

I had surgery for my herniated disc this past winter after the application deadline. Due to the hiatus I took I am no longer volunteering at certain places I had listed as "ongoing volunteer commitment". At the time of the application my surgery date had not been decided and so I was not aware that it would interfere with my volunteer commitments.

For instance I volunteered at a hospital and was undergoing training which I was unable to complete due to my hiatus. And I volunteered at HOLA before attending orientation as the coordinator had told me I could attend their "upcoming" orientation later and begin volunteering right away. However after volunteering she has failed to communicate and I was never able to attend the said orientation due to surgery.

What should I do?

Should I update the UC application and ask them to omit those two volunteer activities from my application as I may not have sufficient proof if they decide to ask? (10% get asked) I have not lied on my application but I do not want to suffer the penalties through misunderstandings.

The UC site stated that "Minor changes to your activities, awards, volunteer work, employment or personal statement are unlikely to have an impact on your admission decision. However, if you have significant updates in any of these areas, you may notify — by mail — the UC Application Center."

Would this be considered minor or significant?

I'm so confused!

Wouldn’t failing to complete training and attend orientation constitute a significant change? You had surgery for a herniated disk. I seriously doubt it’ll hurt your application. What would hurt is not saying anything then being asked for proof to show you really did volunteer.

Tell them that you stopped the volunteering whenever you did. No need to omit it entirely. And yes, mention the surgery.

Thanks! I’ll update it right away.

Should I enclose a picture of myself volunteering at the hospital to show proof? Or is that too much? I can’t vouch for my volunteer activity at HOLA since the coordinator told me that I’d get credit after the orientation but I missed it due to the said surgery. It’s been a while since then and she doesn’t seem to remember me. (I e-mailed her many times after asking about other orientations to make up for it.)

You are thinking way too into it. Relax.
