I'm applying for engineering courses for the UC's. They recommend SAT math and a science closely related to my major. I have an 800 on math, but haven't taken chemistry. I plan to take the chemistry test in December but I don't know how well I will do. I'm planning to major in industrial or mechanical engineering.

Suggestions?

Have you taken any science in school?

If you have taken physics, take the subject test in that. If you’ve taken Bio, take the SAT II in that.

I would NOT take the Chem subject test if you have never taken Chem.

I got a 790 on it after AP Chem—and there is no way I could have done that with just Honors Chem (and you don’t even have that!)

I took Bio my freshman year and am take physics now. I took Honors Chem my sophomore year and have studied over the summer and for the past month. So I guess I should submit chem SAT?

Take Chem then.

How are you doing on Practice tests?

chem is not that difficult, if you have studied for it. (i had 2 days to study and got a 730, not the best score but a 800 in physics makes up for it)

SAT Chem did not test Organic chemistry (my forte) contrary to my belief that it would. I didn’t do many practice tests, just a couple on day 2.

I just wish that organic could have been on it.

Returning to your point, i prefer physics over chemistry but rest is up-to you, how much have you prepared for either one of them.
