UC Essay Topics-- Help!

Alright so I guess UC essay questions are out and I'm wondering what to write about. Ive thought of some topics but I dont know for which essay to write what. These are some topics I was thinking about:

1) Debate - Pretty much I got very confident beating everyone from novice to varsity.. then lost really bad one round, which made me get really good later on..

2) Tennis - (Ive played tennis all 3 years plus next year but Ive always been more focused on acedemics so I dunno about this) Anyway it was my freshman year and I got to play a varsity match for the first time. The match went so long everyone on both teams watched my game to see which school would win. I was down one set, and he had almost won the second to win the game. In the end, I came back to win that set in tiebreaker, which led to another tiebreaker for the overall game and I won..

3) Grades - I dont know how well colleges would like to hear an essay like this . Pretty much itll explain why I got the only B that I got.. and show how I learned from my mistakes and never got a B again. Smart or corny/desperate?

4) Scholarship Fund - This essay will be about a scholarship fund I helped establish which raised money through pledges to allow kids in poor countries (mainly Uganda) to progess to high school and some to college.

So which of these sounds good? Anything I should emphasize? For which questions should I do them?

Also.. what are some sample essay topics for the first question? It seems the only thing you can write about is like how many AP's you took, ect...

Any input is appreciated.

From what I have seen, the strongest essays tend be in a narrative format. It uses the show/don't tell method to demonstrate attributes about your character. It is important when you are writing the essay to be personel and let your distinct voice come alive in the essay.

You do not have to write about ec's or grades if there is not enough content or personel/emotional attachment involved to write a fully fleshed out essay. Probably one of the worst approaches to the essay is to write about ap classes by listing them/ect. It will come out dry and boring. You will tend to blend in with the thousands of other students who write in the same way.
