Hey everyone. I was wondering when the UC essay comes out and where can I find it when it does? And also, how important are the essays for UC's?

The application for the UC schools has not been released. I believe the date for its debut is in September. The essay prompts are usually the same, extremely vanilla. Go on the UC application site to find last year's app and you will find the essay prompts.

Just like any other school, the essays are important to your application, but I don't think they can make or break you so easily.

yeah i guess the topics are usually the same..
anways these are the 3 topics:
1)How have you taken advantage of the educational opportunities you have had to prepare for college?
2)Tell us about a talent, experience, contribution or personal quality you will bring to the University of California.
3)(Open ended question) Is there anything you would like us to know about you or your academic record that you have not had the opportunity to describe elsewhere in this application?

Note:Although there is no fixed word limit for each essay, you have to stay within a total of 1000 words which means you could write 2 essays of 200 words each and one of 600 words...

no those are NOT the topics, the only essay you should start working on is the third, open-ended one. October 1st is when the new app is out

start brainstorming though, the essays are always 1. academia, 2. ec, 3. whatever you want

well i dont wanna contradict u or anything.. but i believe that those are the topics....

whoamg r u crazy? Those ARE the topics and have been for hte last few years.

thanks to everyone for responding (pft i thought the essays already came out!). my friend who visited me at school yesterday (he's going to ucsd in a couple of weeks) told me that the essays are VERY important....:\ hmm...i thought they sorta make and break you. anyway, thanks to everyone who helped. i appreciate it. :)

yeah shopaholic23 is right....

i looked up the 03 topics and they were different. oh well, whatever

well it is 2003 and we're talking about 2007.

I thought the topics were always the same. Someone told me that on these forums.

I started on one essay. Darnnit! If they change the questions, hopefully the essay I already wrote will fit for it

yeah sparetire im with u.... even ive heard that the topics are always the same!!!
