im sure all uc applicants are familiar with this website, so....

whats the value of the essay if everything is already determined? like a turning factor or somethin? i really dont get it.

also, most if not all UCs use this form, right?

someone explain this in detail plz...

thanks!

ps, are there websites for other formulas? (berkeley, LA, etc)

Absolutely incorrect - the other campuses do not use this format. SD is the most forumlaic. Berkeley and LA really do read those essays.....and look at the Writing score.

bump h

the essay is meant to be the source where a lot of those points are actually derived from... for example, talking about living in a single parent household or having to overcome other challenges. to not care about your essays would be a mistake. make sure to take advantage of this opportunity to talk about subjects that could potentially bring you more points in the categories shown on the link you provided.

i also noticed that links to UC Davis' and UCSC's admissions formulas have been updated onto that website.

Berkeley and UCLA do not use a formula, and the essay IS READ and discussed as part of your admissions review. they are more traditional in terms of admissions, similar to what we're most familiar with.
