UC Foreign Language Requirement, Transfer from JC

I submitted my applications to UCB, UCLA, UCD, UCI and UCSD last month.
My final semester at a California community college is, as of right now:
5units - Japanese 4
3units - English Lit
3units - Shakespeare

I tested out of Japanese 1 and went straight to Japanese 2. So, I've taken both JPN 2 and 3 at community college. I know that this satisfies IGETC, but I am wondering about major-specific requirements/recommendations.

On assist.org, UCLA and UCI have additional language requirements.

UCLA's articulation agreement for English reads:
4th semester of one foreign language OR 2nd semester of one foreign language and two additional courses in foreign language or foreign literature, including literature in translation.
I am assuming that I am O.K. here with JPN 1&2, then JPN 3 & Humanities 101, which is listed as a "literature in translation" course.

UCI's articulation agreement, on the other hand, reads:
This major does not require the completion of prerequisites for admission as a transfer student . . . It is strongly recommended that lower-division courses in the major be completed prior to transfer.
further, it suggests:
Course work equivalent to UCI's sixth quarter of study in a single language other than English (at the college level).
Japanese isn't technically an English course. But should I be taking it for UCI alone? Is this just a suggestion? Would I be able to fulfill the requirement once I arrive at Irvine?

I have a number of reasons for wanting to drop Japanese 4. It will force me to ride my bicycle to school two additional days (which is quite a distance) and flood me with busy work that might draw my attention away from the more important major-specific English classes. I will have 71 transferable units if I keep JPN 4, and 66 if I choose to drop it. I applied with a 4.0 and got As this last fall semester as well. Would keeping the class improve my chances at these schools? Or is it superfluous?

Sheesh, that was a mouthful! Thanks in advance for your wisdom. :)
