UC GPA and Repeated Courses-Help!

I had a question on repeating courses; at my school when a student repeats a course their original grade is removed completely and replaced with the new grade. The old grade is replaced with an "R" on the transcript. So it would look something like this on it:

Grade 10:
English Class 1: R

Grade 11:
English Class 1: B

The UC's say you need to put the original grades for repeated courses. I've repeated a couple of my classes, but I have no way to know for certain/prove what the original grade was since my school removes the original grades from their database and the transcript. So what should I do on my application?

Can anyone help please?

If you ever get stuck, there's usually someone you could contact by email to help you fill out certain parts of the application. Look at the UC site and see if you could find someone (maybe an admissions officer, maybe a counselor, etc.) who could help you.
