I am a freshman at UCI, and upon using StudentAccess I see that I have been credited for 7.5 units for a class I took at a community college.

My question is: Since I have been credited these 7.5 units, will the grade I earned in the class also be calculated into my overall GPA? How about my UC GPA? Will the class and grade show up on my UC Transcript?

The class was titled Math 190, and it was taken at El Camino College.

Edit: StudentAccess gives me this message when I click the Grades link:

There are no grades associated with this record.
Contact the Registrar's Office if you think you should have grades.

You can't transfer a grade from a community college to a UC. They will only interpret it as pass/no pass and it will not affect your GPA whatsoever. The class will show up as p/np on your UC transcript.

Normally, UCI only interprets a pass as C or higher, but it may be more lenient for community college classes. They might allow the C- to be a "pass". If you didn't achieve the "pass" status for the class, then you will get no credits. Be aware that it will stay on your transcript =[.

Well, the reason I ask is because I know a friend that took two courses at a community college, received a D and an F in it, yet still received units for both those courses.

Thoughts?

(He is also a freshman, and took these courses at the community college in Summer 2004. The only reason he sent UCI these transcripts was because the UC Application informed him to list all schools he had ever taken courses at...this of course led to him having to send the transcripts to UCI. After all, after he told UCI he went to Community College A, they obviously want to see the transcripts.)

My thoughts are that they did it incorrectly. If they were to see the classes again, they would probably take those units away from him. Did he indicate what grade he got on the application? It's only logical they would take his units back...
