UC GPA calculation - IB classes?

Hey everyone,

I’m a little confused on how to calculate what my GPA is for the UC schools. I understand they have to be a-g courses, and taken in 10th & 11th grade. I’m confused about the weighting part.
For IB classes, do all IB grades get weighted 1 point up? So a B would be weighted as an A and so on? And does this include both HL and SL classes?
The other thing I don’t understand is the “8 semesters” thing. If I have taken six IB classes in 11th grade, does that mean I have taken 12 semesters and exceeded the maximum 8 semesters of weighted classes? Or does that mean I have taken only two semesters?

If anyone could help me out with how to calculate my GPA, it would be appreciated! Thanks!

bump.

This website explains it in a straightforward way - https://■■■■■■/BTcwVM

Basically, if you are taking IB courses that UCs give credit for, then you get credit points for the eight semesters in which your grades were highest (multiply 4number of As, 3number of Bs, 2number of Cs and 1number of Ds). Add this quantity to your total number of grade points (calculated the same way, but with all grade 10 and 11 semester grades) and then divide by the total number of semesters you had in grades 10 and 11 to get your weighted GPA.
