I’m sorry if this information is somewhere else on here, but I did a search and can’t find the answer.

When calculating the A-G GPA, what do you do if one of the required 2 years is a class that was taken Freshman year. I understand that they don’t want Freshman Grades, but does that mean you can’t count a F History class? (asking because the school has social sciences combined with history and not all of those classes count as an “A” course). Or will they count it, but not take the grade?

They count language taken then, so I would think they count History. (My son took three years of French, not Senior year, and he was accepted to various UCs.)

So then, did you not report the grade from Freshman year? It looks like they want 2 years of “history” grades but don’t want them from the 1st year. Confusing…

they also require four years of English which HAS to take Fresman year into account. The main thing is whether the course is in your school’s list on doorways of ‘a-g courses’ if you are in California http://www.ucop.edu/agguide/a-g-requirements/

you can look up your school’s a-g courses here if your student goes to a California high school: A-G Policy Resource Guide;

the grades count in that they have to be a C or better, even in freshman year.

Thank you. I looked up our history courses and only 2 of the 4 will work for A-G. That’s why I’m confused. We have gov’t Sophomore year and that one only counts as the elective. I’m guessing that we only report the Junior year history class then.

call an admissions adviser at one of the UCs as soon as the crunch is over (say, May 2.)
