UC GPA Question!

Just for clarification...

For the UC GPA..
A+, A, A- =4.0
B+, B, B- =3.0
etc??

And AP class A+, A, A- =5.0? But apparently they only allow 4 classes to be weighted this way?

Please confirm this!

Thanks

8 semester points max - so 4 classes (ap's or honors), 10-11 grades only, a-g only (sorry, they don't care if you got an A+ in PE)

in the online application when putting in your grades, it just asks for a letter, but no +/-, so yes, A+, A, A- are all the same thing to them and they will never even see the +/-

^^^ OMGOD are you serious??? That's amazing... I get mostly A-'s!

Wow.

Yay!

I'm soooo glad +/-s don't take into account for the UC system.

Only weighting 8 semesters kinda stinks when you have a few B's but mostly AP/Honors classes. Then again, they do look at the rigor of your curriculum.

also, bonus points only for UC-approved honors courses. (Just bcos your HS labels a course as 'honors', UC might not concur.)

The formula has a strange implication -- the more non-qualifying a-g classes you take, assuming you have all As and at least 8 semesters of AP, the higher the gpa. Taking 0 semesters of PE yields a gpa of 4.28. Taking 4 semesters of PE and 4 more semesters of other non a-g courses (therefore they are not counted in gpa computation), yields a UC gpa of 4.4

Weird.

They do it on a semester system? My school only shows the end of the year final averages on the transcript. Is that all that counts?

BTW every class that I have taken thus far is year-round, so semesters don't really matter for me.

Dunnin:

Not sure what's wierd; only a-g courses are counted. UC does not care about Health, PE, driver's ed, basketweaving, religion (at a parochial school)....

Mega: if your HS only has one official marking period, then you would essentially be capped at four bonus points. (Or just multiply your year-end grades by two.)
