UC GPA Questions

I have a few questions concerning the way the UC GPA is calculated:

Are a-g courses basically everything that isn't gym, home-ec, or other "fun" electives?

My school is on a trimester schedule. If I get a B first trimester, but an A the other two, and my final grade on my transcript is an A, will the UCs count this as an A or as 1/3 B and 2/3 A?

Do course from senior year count towards the UC GPA or is it just 10-11?

All classes at my school are considered honors, even Tech Theatre. Will the UCs assign weight to all my classes? Because if that's true, I'd have a ludicrously high UC GPA of 4.94 or even 5.0 (depending on #2).

EDIT: I'm from Texas if that changes anything.

Hello there! As a recent Cal admit, hopefully I will be able to offer some helpful information;

You’re mostly right, but a-g requirements do actually include a year of elective visual/performing arts. For more information here is the list: [A-G courses | UC Admissions](http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/freshman/requirements/a-g-requirements/)

Your grade would be counted as 2/3 A and 1/3 B.

3.Courses from senior year do not count towards the UC GPA, and you will not submit your senior year grades before decisions are released. UC GPA is just 10-11.Senior year courses matter because they will look at the course rigor(even if they won’t see the grades before they decide on your app), and you must maintain a 3.0 in those classes at the bare minimum or any offer will most likely be rescinded .

4.Technically for UC GPA I believe they only count up to 8 semesters worth of honors credit towards your weighted GPA(or, the equivalent of 4 year long honors courses total). However, UC Berkeley also looks at your fully uncapped weighted GPA and all of the honors courses you took. UCB will take into account your whole high school transcript up until senior year, not just your UC GPA.

Here’s where I got some of my information, and it’s a good place to look if you have more questions about the UC GPA:

The answer to your question 4 is explained in the link above:

In calculating a nonresident’s GPA, UC will grant honors weight for AP or IB courses only, but not for school-designated honors courses.

Does anyone know how Cal looks at GPA from an out of state context? Are the applicants compared to each other, or are they compared to applicants from the school prior too?
