I was wondering how universities outside of the UC system calculate GPA for high school. How do the Ivys calculate GPA? I know for the UC system it's :
A=4
B=3
C=2
(with no difference between + and -)
and an extra point for up to 8 semesters of UC accredited honors courses.
How does this system differ with other colleges?
Also, how do you calculate the unweighted/weighted for the Ivys?

sarah: yes, a max total of 8 bonus points regardless in which year you take the class, i.e. 8 max over two years. But, bonus points only for UC-approved honors courses, plus all AB/IB courses.

Full Weighted GPS: Here colleges generally differ. Some provide same weightage to Hons. and AP some different but genrally the weightage is .5 for Hons. and 1 for AP.

UC also compute full weighted GPA (specially UCB, UCLA, and UCSD) and also the 8 semester weighted GPA for Sophomore and Junior year.

UC capped GPA (8 semesters max) is only used to determine eligibility to UC system. Each campus (like LA, berkeley, san diego) uses uncapped weight gpa (without limiting weight gpa to 8 semesters) for its admission decisions
