alright, I don't care what people say, calculating UC GPA is alittle confusing....
a few questions:

1) When they say add an extra point for each AP class, up to 8 points total, well, when your adding it by semester, do you only add it for that one semester, or does it count for 2? My question itself is alittle confusing, but i hope someone understands or just explains the general process in detail...

2) I assumed PE doesn't count as points, so I should just exclude the points and the class itself when calculating the GPA, right?

3) Is a 4.5 UC GPA low for the UC's, specifically UCLA? because I tried calculating it, I dunno if it's even right, but that's what I got, so I just need some confirmation here, i added a point for each semester.

Actually 4.5 is pretty ridiculously high... I suppose it is possible though if you only took 16 semesters your Sophmore and Junior year, 8 of them UC weighted, and got all A's.

Yeah, no offense but a 4.5 is nearly unnatainable. Not only would you need All A's with 4 AP courses, you'd need to take pretty much only AP courses with 4 classes without AP weighted credit. Kinda crazy considering the Gpa spans two years.

Okay....I'm going to list my classes/grades, and I need someone to help calculate my UC GPA......

10th:
world lit comp (H) A+/A+
Spanish II (H) A-/A
Algebra II(H) A/A-
Biology(AP) A/A-
Chemistry I A/A
World History (H) A-/A

11th grade:
English Lang (AP) B/A-
US Hist (AP) A/A-
Spanish III (H) A/A-
Math Analy (H) A/A
Teachers Aide A/A
Chemistry (AP) A/A

Now, for 10th grade, biology AP was my only weighted class. 11th grade, english, history, spanish, math, and chemistry were all weighted classes. I received one B in english (dang), so what did I do wrong?By the way if anyone didn't realize, i listed each grade I got for each semester, which may have confused me when it came to calculating. IF anyone can calculate it for me and help a brotha out, ty.

this post will consume me until someone answers the question above.......lol, sorry to harrass people like this, but UC GPA has always bugged me cuz i can never get it right. ^

4.5 is not unattainable. i took 1 AP sophomore year, 5 honor/AP junior year (one B in hon. trig, the only B i have on my transcript), and three classes from a local community college. And I have 4.515 CP weighted GPA.

4.5 is neither high nor low for UCLA. try to remember that UCLA and UC Berkeley have really odd admission process (i.e. get into Standford and not get into UCLA)

yes, CP weighted GPA exlude classes such as P.E. and health.

i know people at my school with a even higher GPA because they took all APs or 5 weighted/ 6 classes. most are in very advanced math. i also know someone who achieved a 5.0 in his senior year (he is the brother of my best friend).

honors is weighted at my school but i think it is different from school to school.

i believe the regular class each semester = 4
weighted class each semester = 5
add them all up then you divide by the total class each semester exluding P.E. and health

lol ucla=match i'm pretty sure. Unless ur other ECs are crap. Btw the only way to obtain like a 4.4/higher is to take 6 classes soph/junior with a sport each year. Therefore its ilke 5 classesx4 pts(A)=20. 20x 4 semesters=80. 80=8/20=like a 4.4
