Uc Gpa

How do you calculate GPA for UC schools? Thanks.

Calculate your GPA from 10th and 11th grades only and add 1 bonus point for UC-approved honors, AP, IB, and college classes.

Including college classes taken during the year and the summers after 10th and 11th grades, yeah?

what if some courses u took weren't transferable courses to your HS?
Like, I took AP Economics online, but it is recorded as Pass and not "A" because it wasn't transferable to my GPA or transcript.

Yeah..I guess I have the same questions.
So if by the time I'm done with junior year and I have a 4.6....is that good or horrible? I'm too oblivious.

Whoa, okay, I don't think that's right because on another post I saw that somebody said that the highest you can get is a 4.3...I'm confused.

And on that matter..do electives count for normal, un-UC, unweighted GPA? Like choir, newspaper, speech, and all that jazz.

That doesn't count because you didn't take it at your high school and it doesn't show up on your transcript.

There's a capped UC GPA which limits your number of bonus points to 8 semester classes, but some campuses also consider the uncapped UC GPA.

Yes, electives count in the UC GPA.

the gpa is calculated only from a-g courses that you have taken.
go to http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/freshman/scholarship_reqs.html
and scroll down to 'Grade Point Average'

For california high schools, you can see what courses at your high school are 'a-g' at this site http://www.ucop.edu/doorways/

Hey i got another random question, What if you took like extremely hard classes all 4 years (as in having to go to the local JC your senior year for 4/6 classes), but your GPA is pretty low, as in 4.00 weighted. Would you still have a shot at like Cal or UCLA? considering you have a lot of EC's and decent SAT scores like 20,000 and up on SAT I

actually i meant if the SAT scores were a little bit below the schools average?

by the way, a "class" means one semester of a class, so a yearlong course counts as two classes.

sure, potentially.
