UC grades

So I have been a pretty good student in high school (As and Bs). My average GPA weighted is above the UCB and UCLA weighted. However, this first semester senior year, I am getting all Bs right now and might get a C in spanish. If worse comes to worse and I end up getting all Bs and one C, will this affect my admission? I am taking all AP/IB courses this first semester too.

UC’s don’t factor senior grades. However if you choose to go to a UC, an array of C’s and lower on your final transcript for senior year can (D’s and F’s will) cause you to have your admission rescinded.

i heard that getting an unweighted GPA below 3.0 will also get you rescinded. If if get a C in spanish and no As, would that mean I might get rescinded?

I was listening in on my school’s counselors talk to the junior class last week and I heard them say that the 3.0 mark is weighted.

On the UC website, it says 3.0 unweighted.

then I think I am hosed, I did not study and the first senior semester, I get a 2.5 average, shoot…

Bring up your second semester grades, and you should be ok.

Just don’t fall below a 3.0 unweighted. If you were able to get good enough grades to get into UCB/UCLA, you should be able to maintain those grades for at least another semester. If it means studying your a$$ off to get above 3.0 unweighted, I’d highly suggest it.

what are your stats, GPA & test scores?

I would wait until/if you’ve been received admissions offers from Berkeley and UCLA.

Then per this link [UC Notes - February 2007 - headline](<a href=“Admissions | University of California”>Admissions | University of California) , contact both admissions officers and ask them to work with you… assuming you dropped below 3.0 unweighted. apparently they have the ability to suggest you re-take a course over summer as a condition… not sure though.

You must:

Receive a high school diploma or equivalency.

Complete all senior-year courses as listed on your application.

Maintain at least a WEIGHTED 3.0 senior-year GPA in UC-approved courses.
The following situations may result in cancellation of your admission offer:
a) multiple D or F grades in your senior year A-G courses
b) taking less rigorous courses than reported on your application
c) not maintaining UC Eligibility

I doubt what dunninLA said is true as UCs are universal in their Acceptance conditions.

^ UCLA and UC Berkeley stand alone in their admissions requirements.

OK so i am really worried/frustrated right now. I ended up 2Cs and only 2As which means a 3.00 unweighted, 3.75 weighted. I hate myself right now. But this shouldn’t affect my standing with any UC school rights? how about privates like USC or Washington U in St. Louis? What should I do?!?! Thank you for any feedback.

3.0 is OK for UCs.

Regarding the others, I don’t know. Most schools wait to review your file until mid-year grades are in (I’ve read, but don’t know this for a fact), while some don’t. If you mean will the 2 Cs reverse a positive admissions decision for schools who didn’t review 7th semester grades prior to decision, no, I don’t think so.

Thank you, very informative. And just to doublecheck, is the weighted/unweighted calculated for all classes, even those that exceed the requirements for A-G or aren’t even A-G?

^ that I don’t know…
