UC honors calc

I read that UCs add extra points for UC approved honors courses. This would make a big difference in my GPA, but is this for only California high school courses, or is it possible for courses in out of state high schools to have courses that meet the requirement for an approved honors course?

The honors bonus automatically applies to out-of-state high school courses, as long as it's a normal high school course (e.g. Pre-Calculus, US History, Biology, etc.) and not something that isn't taught in most high schools. So, yes, you can rest assured that your honors courses will be recognized and factored into your UC GPA.

what about IB courses weightings?

Are community college courses like Intro to business and Chem 050 factored into UC GPA (as weighted courses)?

Yes.

I don't know, sorry.

Wow, that's cool.

Ah, the FAQ I read said that they give weight to AP/IB, but not school designated honors. Which leaves me in a crux, some of my courses aren't actually 'honors', they are called 'Pre-AP'. I guess that if it doesn't use an AP exam that it wouldn't count, even with that designation.

Yeah, only some honors are considered UC approved honors, such as Chemistry, 11th grade English, and Pre-Calc/Trig.

Is it true that only eight semester max are factored in?

^^ yeah that's true. Yeah I took Geometry Honors and Alg II Honors and they did not get honors credit, but pre-calc honors did

Bad news for me. If I'm out of state, could I possibly get into UCLA or UCB with a UC GPA of 4.0?

Bump bump bump
