What exactly is a UC Index? I noticed it under the Test Scores tab in MYUCR account next to my SAT and ACT scores. Just wondering what it’s purpose is and if it is only relevant to UCR or if it is relevant to all UC’s.

The one I am aware of has to do with being UC eligible and you add a formula based on your gpa and test scores: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/freshman/california-residents/admissions-index/

however I saw a different index reference that was in the thousands, not hundreds, on a UC internal discussion of admissions numbers which I’d be interested in knowing more about.

note the slide bars on the right column you can slide to the appropriate uc gpa and test scores to see if you are uc eligible in state. However, this is the minimum to get in, and the guaranty likely only applies to Merced this year, since the other UCs are likely to fill through normal application process.

The UC index is used in determining ELC eligibility for the top 9% of your class or for the statewide path like collegevetting stated above and it is used by all UC’s.

I’m actually applying as an international student so wasn’t entirely sure. Since the number is in the hundreds i’ll assume it has to do with that :). Since we don’t use GPA’s where I graduated I think it’s safe to assume they converted my grades into a GPA to get that UC Index.

Never mind figured it out. Thanks for the link collegevetting.
