UC Irvine B.S. in Business Information Management ( jointly with The Paul Merage School of Business)

Hi,
I need more information about this undergrad Program in UC Irvine.
Undergraduate Major in Business Information Management. Can anyone guide me how good & prospective is this program when compared to B.S. in Computer Science. What are the chances of getting into UC Irvine with ACT 30 and UC GPA: 3.70+

I think you need to be more specific with your Capped weighted UC GPA. Here is the calculator: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

This is 2017 data for Business Information Management:
Average UC capped weighted GPA was 4.12
Average SAT score was 1284. Conversion to ACT would be around a 27.

For CS:
Average UC capped weighted GPA was 4.11
Average SAT was 1402. Conversion to ACT would be around a 31.

UC’s tend to be very GPA focused so if you are around a 4.0+ capped weighted GPA, you have probably have a good chance at UCI. UCI does admit into the University first and then into the major, so select an alternate major just in case.

Unfortunately I cannot help you with a CS program vs. BIS comparison other than to link you the 4 year course plan for both majors.

Thx for your quick response. Following is the GPA information of my daughter.

Unweighted GPA: 3.70
Weighted GPA: 3.96
Weighted and Capped GPA: 3.96.
So as per my understanding from your reply—’-UCI does admit into the University first and then into the major’, what would you suggest??? Shall we put BIS as first choice instead of CS or leave it as general engineering.

I would have her apply to her first choice major CS and select an alternate major either BIS or General Engineering. If she does not get her 1st choice major, UCI will consider her alternate major. There is still a chance if she does not get admitted for either major, that she would get Undeclared.

General Engineering stats for admitted applicants 2017:
Average SAT: 1320
Average UC capped weighted: 4.17
