UC Irvine Business Administration vs Economics

<p>I'm a CCC student applying to UCI for Fall 2012.</p>

<p>I want to major in business administration, but know it is a lot more competitive compared to their business economics major.</p>

<p>My question is whether UCI (wondering the same for other schools too) will take applicants who apply as BUS ECON (primary major) over applicants who apply as BUS ECON (alternate). How does the alternate thing work, exactly?</p>

<p>last year business admin for UCI is around 3.7, right now probably 3.8</p>
