    -Posting SAT Scores ASAP & I am also taking my next SAT in March
    -Working on fully releasing an app on the App Store by the end of august
    -Going to take Computer Science classes at a community college near me
    -mentors students my age, younger, and older that need help with coding

What are my chances at UC Irvine?

I know that my GPA is not the best. But their admissions process is holistic, GPA is not the only thing that matters.

BUMP

GPA is a little low… A large portion of the decision depends on your SAT score too! Good luck!

@smileesarefree Ok, thanks! :smiley:
I’m going to spend lots of time on my essays though and tell a few life impacting stories :slight_smile: Would that help as well?

I’d say your chances are decent/a bit mediocre, but not excellent. GPA is much too low; yours is 3.6, while average is 4.05.

Also, although UCs care more about GPA, your ECs are good for comp sci but aren’t well rounded; no leadership, significant sports achievements/awards, no volunteering, no hobbies outside of major, etc.

Make sure you do well on SATs (aim for 2200+) and SAT IIs, finish junior year strong, and focus on math/science APs, to increase chances. Good luck!

I would say high match low reach

Best of luck!
chance back please?

@bboy219 @YuiHirasawa Ok thanks!

I do have volunteering, leadership, & dedicated sports but I didn’t feel like I needed to mention it here.

But my main hobbies include:
-Traveling (internationally & domestically)
-Djaying
-working on Open-source projects for Google

As for essays, make sure to have credible people review them before they’re submitted! And don’t try to make yourself sound “too impressive” in your essays, if you know what I mean. :wink: I’m a senior that’s also anxious for UC Irvine’s decision. Good luck with the rest of your junior year. :slight_smile:

@smileesarefree Ok, gotcha! I hope you get in :slight_smile: Hopefully we’ll both be Anteaters :smiley:

If this helps , I just got accepted to UC Irvine today with an invitation to the CHP. Would you like my stats?

@jasminealexia15 sure! :slight_smile:

Major: Criminology
Weighted UC GPA: 4.67
SAT Composite: 2070
AP: 3,4,5,5
EC’s: Cheerleader for my high school for 3 years w/ one year as captain , Link Crew Mentor, Math Mentor for 1 year, Police Explorer for 1 year ,currently work a Part time job
Awards: AP Scholar w/Honor , NCS Scholar Athlete , NSHSS, Superintendent’s Honor Roll
Other :1st Generation Student , Mixed Race (Asian, Pacific Islander, Hispanic)
Essays: my advice is to write about your passions and just really express to Admissions how dedicated you are to what you do . Emphasize where you come from , your roots , etc.
Your GPA does not exactly decrease your chances , as your EC’s are excellent , but I would recommend boosting it this year and definitely do not slack off senior year either. I am still taking 4 AP’s . And aim for the 2000s range for your SAT. But as many have mentioned , numbers are not everything (:
Hope I was of some help! Good luck with your future! Congrats to those who have been accepted and good luck to those who are patiently waiting !

@jasminealexia15 Yep! I’m taking 4 AP’s next year as a senior and will work very hard :slight_smile:

Congrats on getting into CHP @ UC Irvine :slight_smile:

You’ll do great & thanks for the advice! :smiley:

Any SAT updates?

@ZachSchaaf Taking it this weekend.

Update:

  • I’m starting an organization
    • Coding a few apps in which the money I make from ad revenue will be donated to charities/organizations
      -Recently outreached for kids in my county to take on a coding event at the eBay Headquarters next week; I’ll teach them to code and there will be professional mentors there to help them as well
