Congrats to those that will graduate on the 50th Anniversary of UC Irvine :)

I also wrote about how I was inspired to become an engineer. 2nd essay: Wrote about the award I received that demonstrated my rapid academic improvement and the experience of receiving it.

[li] Gender: Male[/li][/ul]**General comments/congratulations/venting,etc: ** Compared to others that got rejected at UC Irvine, I definitely believe that I don’t deserve my spot in the school. I worked hard towards the end of my sophomore year and onward, but I didn’t do as much compared to others. UCI did send me a supplemental application to fill out last February that asked for my Fall Semester Senior GPA (which was a 4.4), so I think getting that high GPA improved my chances significantly.

I guess my acceptance is an example of how it’s never too late to start working hard for what you want. My minority status definitely gave me an edge over others, but I think the greatest factor the UCI admission staff took to admit me was the fact that I kept improving through my grades, going from a 2.4 UWGPA all the way up to a 4.4 WGPA.

I hope others that tried their best got accepted to UC Irvine as well, and I hope to see you all in the Fall!

There’s already one here[/url”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-irvine/1082821-uc-irvine-class-2015-decisions-thread.html]here, though I think we need a 2015 thread for discussion.

Anyone know where I can find a forum for those who are freshman going into UCI next year? Want to start meeting people since I’ll be living with them for 2 maybe 4 years.

Hey sprinknot, I’m going next yr :)

Hey! What you majoring next year? You planning to stay at Middle Earth?

Hey Sprink, Vizy, and of course JGod, I’m going to Irvine next year too! ^^
Majoring in International Studies and hoping to get into Middle Earth.

What kind of extracurriculars do you guys think you’re going to do? I’m interested in Kendo and Campus Reps!

I’m majoring in CS or Computer Game Science (Haven’t decided if which yet) and also Middle Earth. I kind of just want to goof off with EC’s. Want to join all the random nerd clubs like on the tour our guide said something about jedi fights or something and that got me oddly excited. I’ll probably join a serious club or two, but I just want to have fun with my free time rather then make myself worry more then i probably already will with classes.

Hey taiwonton! I’m a freshman at UCI and I’m also an international studies major! You’ll definitely enjoy IS.

What are the differences between Mesa Court and Middle Earth? Why are you all preferring to go to Middle Earth?

I’m a bio major, I was down to go with Middle Earth (due to proximity to gym and the fact that the opposite sex is right next door) but I’m still deciding. Have you guys been to the campus?

jgod:

check this out: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-irvine/161772-middle-earth-vs-mesa-court.html</a></p>

i’m undeclared (but i’m declaring for micro biology) and i plan to live in ME because it’s close to brandywine…i doubt that’s the best reason, but it’s my reason :D

@Chikara: Really?! I’m super stoked for it, I heard it’s a great program! Judging by your username, can I guess you’re interested in Japanese?

@JGod: I decided on Middle Earth because it’s closer to the Social Sciences building. I don’t think it matters much- but I know a friend of mine who’s a sophomore right now chose Mesa Court because it was closer to her building. And I heard Middle Earth parties a little less, depending on the hall? And I’m not really a party-type, so I’d like to stay away from those hahaha~ Though I’m a little disappointed because I heard Mesa has slightly larger dorms? Well, they have trundles under the beds, at least. But I’ll survive! ^^

@Vizy: Yeah, I went in November- loved it! It’s soooo pretty and when I went it was International Week, so there were a bunch of fun international clubs around selling food! Have you been yet?

Yea I went a couple days ago, I liked it a lot. A lot of the things that I was worried about turned out to be all in my head.

[/ul]**General comments/congratulations/venting,etc: **
I was aiming for USC/UCLA (mainly to stay with family as I have younger siblings) but I didn’t get in either. I got into UCD, UCSD, Cornell, waitlisted Columbia, but I prefer UCI because of its great environment and approach to engineering. Plus its nearby. I am still very happy and excited (already bought a sweater and shirt :~ lol!).

Nope, JGod, you’re not the only Mexican American lol

@Sprinkknot: I saw a huge like fight with fake swords, bows and arrows, and shields in the park two weeks ago at UCI. It was epic! lol

I can’t pick between Mesa or ME, but ME is closer to recreation center…and I love going to the gym

Holy *** Really??? Lol I’ve never done that stuff before but I’ve always wanted to try just cause it looks so nerdy and fun. Don’t even care if people call me a nerd cause that would be so much fun.

Yea! There were like 30-40 people and no1 seemed to care about the nerdiness aspect haha just the fun!
