Since every one keeps asking about rejections, I will post my stats.
Decison: Denied
ACT: 31
UC GPA: 3.73
10 AP classes
Major: CS
UCI wasnât one of my top choices but also denied at SLO (first choice).
Already SIRâd to SDSU and think it is the best choice for me. Good luck to all that are still waiting and Congrats to everyone accepted.
Do you guys think itâs better to apply for a rare major (less competition) THEN change major after you got in. I made a mistake on choosing Business Admin as first major but I truly had NO idea it was an impacted major at UCI until yesterday

@marleyandme its crazy that you were rejected with those stats. 10 ap classes, and a pretty decent act score. I guess they truly do not place much weight on test scores. Congrats on SDSU though and good luck.
@marleyandme are you majoring in CS at SDSU too?
@bobacool15â it will be easier to get admitted, but there is no guarantee that you will be able to transfer into your major of choice once at the school.
@bobacool15â the thing with UCI is that they wonât let you change majors to business admin, engineering, nursing, or any performance major after youâre admitted, since theyâre so impacted. it says so on the page where you can change majors. so if you know business admin is what you want to do, and you think you had a shot at that, definitely keep it as 1st choice, and another âmore rareâ major as second, as a backup.
Is it safe to say that most of the decisions were released to in-state students in this first batch? #-o
@yayayadiraâ I believe it is possible to change into the major, it is just very difficult
Is software engi an impacted major? I know itâs not under the engi college, but itâs still â engineeringâ anyway XD
Does the portal get updated throughout the day of only after 5 pm like today?

@notsohappygirlâ same. I live in state too and the portal still hasnât been updated. It just says that they recieved my application and that I have no new messages. hopefully they are updating portals in waves ?
@Oracion I donât think that soft. Eng is impacted. The impacted majors at UCI are the life sciences. Eng. is not really. But I mean it is always competitive, for anything.

@yayayadira And what if you got in as undeclared? will you be able to change to those impacted major as well? The suck thing about me is that idk if I even want to major on business admin anymoreâŠOh well hoping for the best

@bobacool15â yeah thereâs like transfer prep you have to do but itâs possible! (deleted some stuff meant for CC transfers). like dpratt said, you can transfer into most majors (i think nursing is the only restricted one not sure) you just have to be careful you donât have too many units done without a degree but thats if you transfer more than a couple times.
