***UC Irvine Class of 2022 Applicants***

@dippledapper Sorry to hear you were waitlisted too, have you joined the thread? We’re all mopey there… :frowning: That being said, UC GPA 4.17, ACT 34, (I think) stellar ECs and essays. I applied as an econ major, and my first choice is a bit of a reach, but Cal is my dream school.

[edit: spelling]

@collegedoozy oof my stats are lower than yours by a bit and i’m rather surprised you didn’t get in with those stats, your major isn’t high impact either :confused: . i didn’t know about the thread but i’ll definitely check that out now!!

i’m literally so scared i’m not opening my portal under next friday just in case since they typically release acceptances, then waitlists, then rejections, it would suck to have the portal not updated and not know whether to think of it as a outright rejection like with cal poly this year

@llaauurenn they better not be like cal poly cuz that was super trolll and made me sad :frowning:

@dippledapper yeah that was the worst. my other thing is i’ve wanted to go to uci since i was 5 since i live locally and i could not imagine being able to accomplish anything the rest of the week if they decide to release on a weekday if i got rejected because i’d be so heartbroken :frowning:

If UCLA was able to finish all of its applicants (the most applied to school in the nation), and UCI coming second or third most applied (before or after UCSD), then UCI is just playing the waiting game at this point.

@orionary Agreed, this really sucks

I hate the waiting, its nerve racking.

@Julieta2321 Teacher’s like “Do homework on the chromebooks” and I’m like alright time to go on collegeconfidential lol

@boootan lol sameee

Any other LA county brothers and sisters in here? @llaurenn where you from?

i’m from south orange county so only about a 15 minute drive to uci:) @boootan I so wish UC’s gave preference locally though because idk what I’ll do if I don’t get in yikes

@llaurenn That’s super close, you gonna commute then?

@boootan planning on it:)

@llaauurenn UCI is our only option for commuting as well. It will be apocalyptic at our house if son is waitlisted or rejected. Cal Poly Pomona is OK but kid is really hoping for UCI

They do consider geographic location in their decision process.

@orionary Once decisions are made enrollment management has to crunch all the numbers and determine if targets are met. That takes time. They aren’t just sitting around.

The UCI phones are wild, I’ve been on hold for 5-10mins. They just say “admissions start at the beginning of the month and end at the end of the month.” Frustrating

@ihopeigetintbh If you’re calling to see if admissions come out today they won’t release that to you.

How much does geographic location count? Does UCI give preference to all Southern Californians in General, or just Orange Countians?
