Accepted June 10th
-GPA 3.08 (overall UC GPA at time of application)
-Major: accepted as alt major-Chem
-EC’s: VP of volunteer service club, active MESA member, selected from a team of MESA students to develop a prosthetic hand for competition, mentored local high school and junior high MESA students, part time work.
-Had awesome essays
-Was in regular contact with admissions frequently asking how I could increase my chances of getting off the wait list via email so that it created a paper trail (probably didn’t help and they said there was nothing I could do), sent final transcripts early to try and show them how well I did my last semester and show that I brought my GPA up to 3.22 (again probably didn’t help but I wanted to be an Anteater so badly I just acted like I was going to get accepted)
-No appeal of wait list decision
-Was audited
-Transfer
GPA was 3.01 when applied, 3.09 by the end of the semester
EC's: Secretary of a science club at my school, volunteer work for one of my professors, and was a member of a programming club at my school as well.
I also E-mailed someone that one of my professors referred me to, idk if it helped but I also wanted to show that I wanted this badly. (p.s. guy never emailed me back so it probably didn't increase my chances)
appealed and waitlisted
I think my appeal was denied because I checked my portal and it changed to just waitlist, then an hour later I was accepted
@xtyphoon in your MyAdmissions portal, click on the “MySchools” tab. There you will see a list of previous schools and whether or not to send those transcripts. I had to send my HS transcripts even though I graduated from high school 10 years ago!
Did anyone get accepted as a Bus Econ major yet? I assume they are accepting by major unless it’s by the school department like the Social Sciences school.
@UCorBust93 You’re not the only one! UCSB was actually my dream school when I first started out, but the fact that UCI accepted me for my first choice major (while UCSB didn’t) made me consider it much more seriously. In the end, I did a lot of researching and discovered that the curriculum, programs, and student activities at UCI turned out to be a much better fit for my interests. I’m headed there in the fall as well.
