UC IRVINE Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

I am starting this new thread as one has not been started yet. Good luck everyone!

@Ohm888 I noticed that in early September and knowing no one has created one for UCI really worries me lol

Ah, yes, it’s not uncommon, for whatever reason. But might as well get the ball rolling. ?

I am applying as Biology as my main major and Molecular Cell and Developmental Biology as my alternative. By spring, I will have both gen chems, both ochems, two semesters of bio, stats, and two calcs. I will be missing third semester of bio and the physics series. I have a 4.0 so far. How is it looking so far guys?

@Ohm888 I was hoping you can clarify a question I have about the Tag program? I’m notgoing to be applying this year but next year (2020-2021). Anyways, do you know if I just have to have an overall gpa above a 3.4 for tag or do I have to have a gpa above a 3.4 for every semester in order to tag? For context, here is how my gpa has been:

Applying for business economics:

Fall 2018- 4.0
Spring 2019- 4.0
Fall 2019 (last semester) - 3.29; will this 3.29 nullify the tag if I do decide to pursue it? Despite this low gpa for that semester, my overall gpa is still a 3.78.

Whatever GPA it says it means cumulative as of the end of next summer. Then you must maintain it cumulatively for the remaining terms.

@Ohm888 Oh so I’m in the clear?

Hello, I am a TAG applicant to UCI in hopes of attending in fall 2020. After reading up a bit, it seems like a fair share of people were rejected their admissions, despite having tag, when claiming they have completed everything and met all the reqs. Part of me is suspicious that not everything was checked off the left for those who were rejected and that may be due to the strict requirements. In my case, I satisfy all TAG requirements for my major but there is one I am unsure of and it’s making me doubtful. “Attend a California community college during regular session in your last term.” I have been attending the same CCC every fall and spring since fall of 16’, however, I was denied admission to all schools for last fall (hence the TAG this year) and the only course I needed to complete TAG is offered in the spring. This means I did not take any classes during fall 19’ but will be in spring 20’. Would this mean I do not meet the aforementioned requirement in quotes since I didnt take classes last fall?

That is okay. Basically it means don’t take a class at a CSU, etc. (Davis has a slightly different file but no one else does.)

Major: Comp Sci
GPA: 3.63
Prerequisites: Done
IGETC: Done
Extracurriculars: Lots of tennis stuff
Chance me?

Major: Criminology
GPA: 3.75
TAG: Yes
Prerequisites: Done
IGETC: Done
EC: Student Body for SOC club for a year and worked on and off for family business

On my application it said I had a gap in education but I was still able to submit it. I attended two different CCC’s so I’m not sure if that’s the problem. Do you know if anybody else has had this problem @Ohm888 ?

I decided to apply to UCI last minute, so it’s not a top choice, but here are my stats!

Major: Psychology
GPA: 3.8 (~3.9 from CC, 3.7 from previous private 4-year)
IGETC: finished fall 2019
Major Prep: last course in progress
EC’s: Last year I was part of ASB/events crew, ASL club. Currently not involved on campus but working 20 hours a week. Looking to start volunteering/getting more involved. Tons of medical ECs in HS
Other: I plan on minoring in Bio, so I also have my chem and bio series in progress.
Applied: UCLA, UCSB (tag), UCI, & UCD

One of my top choices! Would love to go to UCI

Do transfer students ever get their decisions in March? Anyone gotten their decision yet?

i havent heard back yet

UCI transfer decisions usually come out in early April. On last year’s transfer thread, people heard back on April 2nd.

Decisions for transfers who had tagged received their admission on April 2nd. For transfers who didn’t tag received their decision on April 18 and the decisions came rolling through April 20. Later of that same day on April 20, waitlists and rejections starting rolling. I know because I was admitted last year. I can’t believe is been a year already. Time flies! And I actually committed to UCI since it was my dream school.

@C105213 Ohh I totally forgot about that. Thank you for the clarification!

Is there a good chance TAG applicants will hear back by the end of next week?

@blueki Based on this: https://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/campus-admission-notificcation-deadlines-2020.pdf
it looks like TAG and transfer honors applicants will be hearing back before everyone else, so hopefully that will be starting either next week or the week after that.
