Hi! I’m applying to UC Irvine and its my number one school for nursing but theyre so competitive with over 2000 applicance and only around 80 admitted. I was hoping you can tell me if I have a chance with my stats?
I have a 4.2 GPA
1340 SAT which i know is kind of low
I take college courses in community college
I’ve volunteered in a medical clinic over the summer in the Philippines
Ive shadowed in a hospital and my mom’s a nurse who shares alot of nursing advice
I volunteer at the local food bank for the past two years
Church lead cellist for 5 years
Public library volunteer for 4 years
lots of clubs in school like NHS and CSF
Ive been playing piano for 12 years and i wrote my essay about that along with my house burning down in a fire, my experiences in the Philippines, and a leadership experience
With a 2.5% acceptance rate, there is no way to chance an applicant. All you can do is apply and hope for the best.
UCI Nursing Stats:
Fall 2018 freshman applicants: 2,887
Fall 2018 freshman admissions: 72 (2.5% admitted)
Average UC GPA: 4.24 GPA
Average total SAT score: 1914
Average total SAT score (new version): 1332
@Gumbymom is right, you may look good but a 2.5% acceptance always means admission is a crapshoot. Hope for the best!
I think you have a really high chance I got in last year and we have similar backgrounds. I’m class of 2022 for nursing. my gpa was also a 4.2 and my sat score was SUPER low (1260 yikes). I did a variety of volunteer work and club involvement. Shadowed nurses and other clinicians in hospitals and an urgent care. You have an even more unique background than me and compelling story. I hope you get in and wish you the best in your nursing career!
I am nervously waiting, too. I applied to only CA nursing schools & I know it is so competative. I have 4.2 gpa, 1450 sat and many experiences with leadership, medicine and research. On paper I am a strong candidate but we never know.
I hope we get the answers we are looking for very soon. Good luck to you
Hello medstudent2019 I was wondering if u got in!?
