UC Irvine or UC Berkeley?

I’m a transfer student from a Sacramento community college, and now that admissions decisions for the UCs are getting closer, I feel increasingly uncertain about which of these two I should attend if I’m accepted to both. I’m self supporting with no family in the state, so in either case, it would require a pretty big move and cost of living increase.

So a bit about me (and why I’m conflicted); I’m an English major with a 3.8 GPA, and I’d like to also get a minor/certificate in film and, ideally, go on to work in the screenwriting/content/development side of the entertainment industry (or, if that doesn’t work out, freelancing/publishing/editing/proofreading…ect.) I feel the most at-home and comfortable in diverse urban environments, and tend to prefer school environments where people are focused on the work they’re doing (I’ve already attended one party school in the past, and trust me…not a fun experience.) Of course, there’s the matter of money and rent, too — while I get enough financial aid to cover tuition and a portion of living expenses in any case, I still need to work and will need to be able to find a reasonably close and reasonably low-rent area nearby.

Anyways, thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks in advance!
