UC Irvine Public Health Sciences hopeful + TAG harmful to regular UC Applications?

Hello, I'm a De Anza/Foothill community college student that is hoping to get into UC Irvine under the Public Health Sciences major for Fall 2011. I have a 3.75 gpa with 59 units completed thus far and will have 108 units by the end of Spring 2011. I've filled out a TAG application, but it requires me to get a B in all required courses. I've done all my GEs, so when I go up to a UC I will have completed my General Education classes already. I've done the Calculus requirement, but still need to take the General Biology (2 courses) and General Chemistry (3 Courses) series. The regular UC applications says it would also like a 3.0 gpa on all required coursework as well. Let's say I received a C in Biology, would my TAG and UC Application get rejected? At the very least, will I still get into UC Irvine? Will they ask me to change majors? Is there a chance I can still get into the Public Health Science major still? Also, does a B- count as a "B"?

Will getting rejected from TAG have any harm on the regular UC Application? I submitted a TAG to Davis just to see what happens under Psychology even if I haven't done 1 class required for TAG for that major. Good/bad idea?

Thank you for the help guys.

All grades for CC are letter only, no + or -. (at least in my experience)

If you don’t fulfill the TAG application requirements by December I think it automatically switches to the regular application. Iono for sure, anyone else have an answer?

Your TAG will probably just be nulled.

Getting rejected from TAG has no effect on your regular UC app. If you don’t meed TAG requirements, you’ll simply be evaluated as a regular transfer student.

Also, does UCI say it needs a cumulative 3.0 on all required coursework or a 3.0 in each class? There’s a difference. I applied and was accepted to UCI last year and they required a 2.8 overall, not a 2.8 in each class (so if you had a C and an A in two 3 unit classes, you were fine.)

The TAG major requirements asks to “Have a grade of B or better in each required course” and transferring under the regular UC Applications asks to “Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in each required course”. Hmm…

I actually am applying for the same major but my GPA is going to be a hopeful 3.23 by the end of the fall. I would be missing the bio series and stats. Everything else would be done. What would my chances be? Oh and I was not able to TAG since I took courses at CSUN.

You can apply as another major if you like. The major is not impacted and you should be able to change it to it if you like.
