Somehow I got rejected from TAG at UC Irvine. It kind of came out of left field as I did not expect it.

Now I am forced to apply as a regular student...which sucks. I will have a 3.1ish GPA by the end of Fall...or maybe a 3.0ish if things go wrong (but not below a 3.0). I called admissions and they were unhelpful as ever. The only reason I can think of for getting rejected is that I had taken some classes through cross enrollment at UCSD...but they were through my CC and I even paid CC tuition. I was never a UCSD student.

But now I need to figure out which major I might be able to get in to with a 3.0/3.1 GPA. I am thinking Anthropology. I was told on here that the cutoff for Irvine was around a 2.8 last year...and Im wondering if you guys think I will get in as a regular app for 2011? I will have most of the prereqs done...but not all.

@lbc123: In a non-impacted major, you’ll get in fine. I had a 3.03 last year (didn’t even apply for TAG) and got in. The cutoff was a 2.8, so yeah, you’re fine.

they don’t really tell me anything O_O i just get the letter saying they got my UC tag app and now they look forward to seeing my app and that i have to keep a gpa of 3.0 by the end of spring 2011…

clever name and comment! I C U go 2 FC. If you like the quarter system and the hands on stuff your doing at NASA deff try for CowPoly for MechE! The only other one I’d shoot for and persist on getting into for MechE is UCB. Best of luck 2 U!

I got rejected too, with a 3.9 lol. Did you complete a transferable math class by SUMMER OF 2010?? (I’m taking Precalc during fall so I was rejected for TAG lol).

haha I stopped after algebra 2 in HS and didn’t care about school at all back then. Irony is I’m really good at math. I never went to class in my Intmed algebra, Trig, and Precalc classes, taught myself from the book and aced every test :]

UCI Tag doesn’t make any sense. It mistakenly calculated my GPA by 0.40~0.60. However, I got the same message as snogonthis. I called UCI, they told me they don’t pre-evaluate Tag. However, they promised they will process your application first.
