Hello everyone,
So I am planning to TAG UC Irvine when I apply for fall 2019 and I had a few questions about the assist pre-requisite classes. I have taken Calc II, and the only pre-requisite classes remaining for me are I&C SCI 31-33. A problem occurs here because my CC does not offer any of these classes. Will my TAG be denied because of this? Or will UC Irvine understand that my school did not offer these courses and allow me to take them there?
Also, the 3.4 GPA refers to your GPA on ALL UC transferable courses regardless of if they relate to your major, correct? I am taking three UC transferable courses this summer that I should get As in just to pad my GPA some more, and I just wanted to confirm that these courses would be valid in the calculation of my TAG GPA? Sorry if anything I typed was confusing, if you need me to clarify feel free to ask.
A lot of CCCs do not offer those screwy CS classes that only UCI requires out of all the UCs. If they are not offered anywhere near you your TAG should not be denied. But don’t trust me. That’s what I’m assuming. Reach out to UCI TAG and ask them directly.
I’ll reach out to them ASAP, thanks for the reply :). Do you know anything about the second question I had regarding the 3.4 GPA for TAG? I’m pretty sure it is ALL UC transferable courses regardless of if they relate to my major, but I just want to get extra confirmation if possible.
Well, the general TAG rule applies to all UC transferable, but some selective majors have additional minimum GPAs/grades needed for major course work. It should be noted on the top of the assist page for your major.
The only other requirements I see on assist are at least a 3.0 GPA in all the required transfer courses. I meet that requirement so looks good :). Thanks for the help !!
I just finished my freshman year at Cal Poly Pomona and am planning on going to a community college my sophmorre year to transfer to a UC as a cc transfer. I’ve looked at assist.org and I only need one more CS class to transfer and will be completing the IGETC. Is it possible to transfer from csu to cc to uc? And would I be able to tag?
I have talked to many Admissions officers and they all say that you will have little priority over students with pure community college background. The reason being, you have already had a chance to receive a bachelors from your previous University and community college students have not. So, you will have to spend at least 2 years at a community college to transfer easily. As for TAG, however, I do not know.
