Which do you prefer and why?

Irvine all the way...all I have to do is look at blind USNews rank...

UC Irvine = #40

San Diego State = Fourth Tier

I understand that rankings are somewhat subjective, but that's a GIGANTIC difference!

San Diego State because it's "America's finest city." Also, SDSU would be much more fun, close beaches, etc.

i would take SDSU, do well there, and go to grad school.

id rather spend 5 years at sdsu than 4/5 years at irvine.

uci is a far better school, but san diego is a far better city. i would apply to ucsd if i was you, then you would be getting the best of both worlds, a higher ranked school than both uci and sdsu, plus the great location of san diego. academics and location sound good to me. but if i was you and uci and sdsu were my two choices, i would choose uci for academics, especially if i was applying to grad school, as i would imagine uci places a lot better into grad schools than sdsu. i would choose sdsu if i was looking to get a job and work after college, as sdsu would be a lot more fun while in college than uci.

sdsu parties like none other and you would have a ****ing awesome time if you went there, if you're into partying
uci is boring as helll but its an imcomparably better school outside of a couple fields like international business
personally id go to SDSU but if you value a good education over a good time go to irvine, especially if youre in a math or science related major

i would say irvine is much better city personally....(safiest,cleanest,close to beach...)

Uh san diego isn't a dangerous city by any stretch of the word and its not dirty at all either except for smog that might float over from los angeles. And i don't see how you can use close to the beach as an advantage irvine has over ****ing san diego, which is a beach city that has a ton of beaches accessable all over. irvines beaches blow.

i didnt say irvine is closer to beach then san diengo....
people are like closer to beach is great advangtage for cdsu over irvine....

UCI > SDSU for overall academics...

Rankings dont mean ****. Its what YOU do with YOUR EDUCATION dont ever forget that. All these rankings just put down people who dont attend these "top Universities." I know plenty of people who went to state schools and even community colleges who are more successful than people who went to Iveys and what not. Just work hard wherever you go, and as long as youre happy there, I gauruntee you wont regret the decision you make.

Rankings dont mean ****. Its what YOU do with YOUR EDUCATION

thats when the schools rankings are similar...(at least top10 vs top50???
top40 vs fourth tier.....thats joke!!!

to coronado18sd , if you dont know where to go...like school's feelings are too similar to pick...i would pick uci for sure......

Does anyone else have opinions on these two schools?

I had to choose between UCI and SDSU. I chose SDSU, mainly because I was majoring in business (SDSU is without a doubt better for business) and actually wanted to enjoy the four years of my college experience. If you get good grades at SDSU and score well on your tests, I promise it will not hinder you when you apply to grad school.

I am bored as hell right now waiting for this license agreement screen to come up right now and was just scanning through different topics when I found this one. The way I see it is pretty simple. If you are looking into anything related to science or even music and the arts, then you should go to UC Irvine. If not, then go to SDSU.
