UC Irvine vs UCSB for Comp Science major

Son got accepted to UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara. Which is good for CS?

Both are wonderful options for CS. Which school environment does he prefer and where would he be the happiest? Are the costs comparable including transportation?

Here is a 4 year study plan for CS at UCI. Also look at the different CS courses for each school to compare. Does one school have more CS classes of interest vs. the other.

For UCSB:

No bad choice between the 2 schools.

Academically, they are similar. Socially, they are very different.

What is your student looking for other than academics?

Thanks so much! Could you please share 4 year plan of CS in UCSB. The pdf shared is for Computer Engineering

We are from CA. One more quick question. I noticed that CS in UCSB is under College of Engineering.
CS in UC Irvine is under Information & Computer Science.

Does it make any difference?
Really appreciate all your input

No 4 year plan for CS at UCSB just the degree requirements that I linked.

If the CS programs are ABET accredited, it does not matter under which College they are housed.

I am facing the same dilemma, I am primarily concerned in which university provides better internship and career prospects. I know Irvine is located in a tech hub but does it really make a difference?
