uc lower division transfer

I got into UC davis my senior year in high school but decided to play college soccer at a small liberal arts school in new york. but my major is biology and realized if i wanted to go to med school im better off at a UC than a small liberal arts school. Im currently a freshman and applied as lower division transfer to uc davis and uc irvine for the fall of 2017. anyone know what my chances of getting in are?? decisions dont come out til late april and im just so anxious to know

your chances are 68.763%

What exactly is that based off?? My biggest concern is my credits at my current school won’t transfer

What is your college GPA? Did you have your transcript evaluated for UC transferable courses? How many units have you accumulated?

@nataliaeliz he was joking.

@Gumbymom my college gpa for my first semester was a 3.97 which is all A’s and one A-. All of my classes are still GED’s. I took Bio I lab and lecture first semester which go towards my major but they it is still a GED. now im in Bio II lab and lecture as well as Chem I lab and lecture. I talked to my counselor at my current school about UC transferable credits but she wasn’t much help. she said since Im in all GED’s they should transfer but i know a lot of people transferring from CCC even have problems with their credits transferring…

@Gumbymom by the end of my freshman year I will have 45 credits

Did you keep all your class syllabi from the OOS school? This will help the UC’s evaluate your transcript. You can also use assist.org for any local CA CCC and try to match the classes at the OOS school with the classes listed in assist.org to see if they are transferable. This will give you some idea of where you stand. Many of the GE’s should be transferable.

@Gumbymom my school is a small school in new york and didn’t show up on assist.org… also not too sure what OOS is?

Out of state.

You already applied, right? There’s no point going through all this now. All you can really do is wait it out.

Besides the fact you’ve already submitted, which makes analysis after the fact essentially moot, there are too many unknown variables that make it difficult to know. Your course list is one, but the bigger one is just how they factor in sophomore applicants. I don’t think anyone up here really knows. It’s a bit of a black hole. I would just go on with your life and wait for the outcome, and not get stressed.

Good advice from @Ohm888. All you can do is wait for the results.

@Ohm888 @Gumbymom thank you both, I appreciate your help and advice!

It would be a rare exception for Davis to accept you before you had Jr level credits (60 semester/90 quarter)

@NCalRent still rare despite getting in as a senior in high school? Also is there any stats on previous admits for my kind of situation? Just trying to figure out my chances as much as I could so I can start planning for next year. Sucks they don’t release until late April

The fact you were admitted or denied as a freshman applicant has no bearing on subsequent application cycles.

Though I’ve not seen any published stats, they make it pretty clear “very few lower-division transfers are admitted.”

I’d say less than 5%… It probably makes sense to plan as if you have been rejected and prepare to apply as a Jr transfer next year. It probably makes sense to return to CA and attend a CC so all of your classes will be on Assist ( and to save the tuition) then transfer the following year.

If you get in,this year, you can scramble to make the arrangements.

@NCalRent I see… thank you! I appreciate your advice and help
