UC Majors

i applied to UCs with less competitive major such as Environmental Science

and if i get in, im planning to switch to competitive major like Biology or Biochemistry

do u think i can switch my major right away when i entered freshman year?

majors do not influence ur chance of admission, unless it is impacted in which in that case you will not be able to switch to that impacted major...

I would advise you to choose the major or at least the department that you would like to study. The typical strategy of majoring in non-competitive field but switching to a competitive one e.g. engineering has one fault. Some UC's might not let you make a change stating that specific college or major is full. Being stuck in your Junior year of college would definitely not be fun. Therefore, I would advise you to apply to the major or at least to that department. However, thats just my opinion, I may be wrong...

It would help if you told us which UCs this is for...

I agree with the majority here. Apply to atleast the same department because once a major is full I don't think its possible to switch into it.

isnt Environmental Science and Biology in same department? science?

i checked all UC' majors
and Envi scinece adn biology are in the same college
