Sorry to belabor this question, but I want to make sure. Do UC's (specifically Cal and UCLA) subtract your AP units from your total units if it gets you below the max units allowed for junior transfer? For example, I go to UCSD, and prior to Fall06, I would have 167.5 quarter units, 48 of which are AP units and 4.5 from community college. So if they just subtract my AP units from my total, I would have 119.5 quarter units (UCSD and community college) -> ~80 semester units, which is near the limit for transfers to Cal in most majors, while UCLA's limit is 130 quarter units. I am a Comp Eng. major if that makes any difference. Thanks!

bump.........

From what I know, they consider most of the units as long as they are transferable including APs, IBs ... and if you are in a university (UCSD), you should NOT get pass 90 semester units/135 quarter units to be eligible to transfer.

< Dicky, they'll subtract the AP units if it gets you within range.

This was one of the responses from the long UC decisions dates thread. This is why I am so confused and concerned right now. If they do not subtract the AP units, it makes it so hard transfer for those that took many AP classes in high school. Oh well, thanks for the response, even though it was not the answer I wanted to hear. If anyone have any information on this matter, please post! Thanks! Good luck on finals!

It isn't a problem. If all your units are community college and AP, then you are fine.

EDIT: ohhh, you go to UCSD...don't know, contact admissions offices.

gabe, I currently attend UCSD, so that won't apply to me. Thanks for the reply though.

Edit: simultaneous replies always seem awkward =)...

Dicky, I guarantee you that you'll be OK for Cal. I contacted the transfer admissions lady, Ms. Nancy Purcille.

If you insist and don't believe me, go to the Cal website, search up the UGA transfers website and write a message.

hmm... dicky, it seems to be difficult for you but anyways, we hope you for the good news :) please inform us if you transfer to Cal

Thanks for the replies. You're right futebolista, sorry for not trusting you the first time. And yes, it will be difficult to transfer since I only have a 3.82 gpa, and the average admittance gpa for CAL engineering is probably above 3.9, but I'm hoping for the best, for me and for all you guys too. Does anyone have CAL transfer stats for engineering majors?
