assume Chemistry major

mecrced is not accredited , new school whereas LB is accredited , ranked 4th in western colleges that offer up to masters and dirt cheap . the choice is clear

I would personally choose the top CSU’s such as the Cal Poly, CSULB, and SDSU over the lower tier UC’s such as UCM and UCR.

I would pick the top CSUs over any UC (well for my major which isnt chemistry).
At a financial point, you are more likely to leave long beach with no debt or very little as a opposed to a UC. Besides, look at location!!! Long Beach > Merced

as fennec said, the choice is (very) clear

merced is too young. CSU long beach really has a good reputation

I don’t know where the hell these people come up with statements such as “UCM is not accredited.” I’m a UCM student and local. I’m not going to lie, Merced is BORING. We have the nickname UCMiddle of nowhere. However, WE ARE ACCREDITED! A science major was accepted to Harvard grad as well as a 2009 grad who was accepted to UCSF med school. I chose UCM over UCSB because I knew I could easily get a research spot (possibly a dissertation during my senior year), plus I have a full ride. CSULB is definitely cheaper, but its not a UC. Do your homework. Don’t trust these ■■■■■■■■ ignorant opinions.

One would expect the intellectual masters-of-the-universe at the UCs to come up with a better argument than, “Don’t trust these ■■■■■■■■ ignorant opinions”.

It’s because UCM really IS NOT accredited YET. We are still in the process of getting accredited (hopefully by the end of this year).
