uc merced

so i called in and asked to see if there are taking lower division transfers.... they said no and they have not updated there site for fall of 2013.... i was wondering just for the hell of it if i still tried apply would it be wrong or would anything go against me? i am from stockton and am currently at uc riverside... i really want to get closer to home!!! being in these circumstances would there still a chance at all what so ever?????????????

I too have recently asked UCM if they take lower-div transfers and they said no.

You mean apply as a transfer even though you do not meet the application criteria?
I don’t see that turning out well. Once they see your transfer app and see you don’t meet certain minimum reqs like credit amounts, then I’ll bet it’ll go straight to the denied pile.

i understand… well if state funding and such things work out over the next few months do you think that there is a possibility for things to change ? Because of course they are still growing and expanding

would you recommend that i do two years here then attempt to go to uc merced or after one year transfer back to a community college that is closer, do a year there then try to go to uc merced? i really do not want to spend more than two years here!!!

If you know transferring to UCM is what you want to do, then your best bet will be to go to a CCC and transfer that way.

This is more beneficial in amy ways, including:

 1. The assist website helps a lot when determining which courses transfer and which would not. With the articulation agreements between UCM and CCCs, it’s much easier to pan ahead with what courses you need so you do not need to retake any of the same classes.
 2. CCC transfer students take priority in transfer admissions compared to other CSU/UC or OOS transfer students.
 3. Tuition is much cheaper at a CC than a 4-year.
 4. UCM participates in TAG (Transfer Admission Guarantee) where, so long as you meet certain eligibility requirements like GPA, you can send in a TAG application from your CCC and be guaranteed admission.
