Hey all. I know about ORM vs. URM and all those things. I was just wondering whether being Jewish is considered a minority through the UC system? Thanks.

minorities are ethnicicities. being jewish is a religion.

"minorities are ethnicicities. being jewish is a religion."

red06: that's what I'd been saying, but everyone else said that it could show up somewhere along those lines.

Anyone else?

Do they even give you the option of listing Jewish as an ethnicity? It is a race as well as a religion but USC (And I know that USC is private) does not recognize it.

UCs don't even care if you're a minority or a majority. whatever

The UCs have literally like millions of kids, so there isn't much of a minority. Everyone is equally represented pretty much.

everyone is equal under California law, regardless of skin color.

Sounds look a good plan, doesn't it?

is that why asians comprise almost half of the student populations at schools like ucla?

lololol azn pride!111!

Seriously though, get over it. There's a significantly higher asian population in CA and it's been that way for a loong while. 11% vs. 3.5% nationwide as of 2000 (census.gov). UCLA's asian population is 37%, according to the Princeton Review.

Yes, the asian students that end up in the US tend to be highly capable, but asians as a race are not superior. I'm so tired of seeing that touted around here.
