UC officials scramble to prep housing for biggest boost in California students in years - LA Times

Having mixed feelings about this: http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-uc-enrollment-20160120-story.html
Scrambling for new teachers and housing doesn’t sound great for those students accepted in the fall. My DS has applied to several of these schools and while accepting more students increases his chances for admission and creates more teaching positions, it also increases his chances of being placed in overcrowded dorms and possibly affecting class sizes, class admissions, and time until graduation.

Any thoughts?

It was such a disaster last year with so many people wait listed who should have been admitted based on the CDS and their scores. I kept reading about it even though I am not from here.

There will be growing pains. It is good if you are on the cusp, Not so good if you are a top student who would get in anyway.
