Which UC's provide guaranteed on campus dorm type housing for junior transfers, and which don't? Which have a lottery process?

Berkeley, UCLA, and Irvine guarantee one year of on-campus housing (lottery determines which building), Santa Barbara has limited spaces which is allocated through a lottery. Davis has a limited number of spaces available and it's first come, first served. San Diego does not yet offer transfer students on-campus housing, as far as I know. Santa Cruz guarantees two years of housing for new undergraduates entering in the fall quarter. Riverside and Merced I don't know...

Thank you, very informative.

yup berkley, irvine, LA, merced, and santa barbara guarantee housing for transfers for one year as of fall 08, riverside and santa cruz is two years, san diego and davis don't

coco said that santa barbara has limited spaces and there's a lotto involved. dragon is saying that santa barbara guarantees housing. which is it? I'm talking about dorms mind you.

yeah merced will give you housing :)

starting in fall 08 housing for transfers in b is guaranteed, but in previous years it was a lottery system, not sure if they are talking about dorms or the apartments, but some i read about these 2 apartments that are just bad.

UC Notes - March 2007

ucsb does not have guaranteed housing for transfers. they use the lottery system =

yeah, only 150 residence hall spaces at ucsb... so i'm guessing i wouldn't have a good chance of living in a dorm if i choose to go to ucsb.

Does UCSD have some sort of system in place to help transfers with finding housing/roommates? I found out about UCSD not offering on-campus housing 2 days ago, and now I'm pretty nervous. How would you find a compatible roommate--generally in residence halls they pair you with someone compatible based on a questionnaire.

When I transferred to Berkeley, I was guaranteed housing for one year, as the other posters have mentioned.

Berkeley has a dorm designated just for transfer students, or they did when I went there...very good way to meet people, instead of being stuck with a bunch of younger freshmen.
