UC Personal Statement 1, too general?

For my first essay about the describe the world you come from, I wrote an essay where I display how an experience changed my mindset about how I approach my goals and aspirations but I don’t specify what goals or talk about anything of my major (engineering). But for my second essay I talk about engineering and an experience that got me interested in it. Is this ok? Or should I tie engineering into my first essay as well? It’s kinda hard to talk about my major or any specific goals on my first essay because I talk about something sentimental and unrelated to my major, it wouldn’t fit the tone.

Also UC Berkeley and some other schools recommends you to talk about your major in one of the essays if you are applying as an engineering. I’m applying as a mechanical engineer but should I have to talk specifically about mechanical engineering or just engineering in general? I have experiences that relate to computers and also did an internship where I learned and implemented computer science but I am applying as mechanical engineering, not computer engineering :stuck_out_tongue: is that fine?
