UC Personal Statement 2 Question

Hi everyone!

Had a quick question about Personal Statement 2 on the UC application. I want to talk about an accomplishment that means a lot to me! I mean it is the most passionate thing that I am working on during high school. The only thing is that I am still in the process of putting it together and there is a lot of planning and stuff that comes before the actual event itself happens, which is scheduled for some time next year). I feel like I have a lot to say about it since it is such an important project to me. Would it still be appropriate to talk about this in my personal statement or should I choose something that I have already done/experienced?

It should still fit. The prompt asks for a “talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience” - your experience/contribution is on-going. The important part of the prompt is the second half anyway - why does it make you proud and how does it relate to who you are.

Try writing out the essay and asking for feedback on how well it fits afterwards. Is this event the culmination of some passion of yours? If so, that might be a good way to frame this - a culmination of several experiences and contributions.

As long as it means a lot to you, it definitely fits! Just be sure not to frame the event as if it already happened.
