The UC announce a new Pilot program for Dual admission.
In July 2021, the California Legislature passed the Postsecondary Education Trailer Bill (AB 132) requesting that UC “establish a dual admissions program as a separate transfer pathway for first time freshman applicants.” This new pathway is intended to increase access to the university “for prospective underrepresented students experiencing limitations in high school curriculum offered, geographical constraints, or financial challenges.” The three year pilot will begin with the fall 2023 admissions cycle.
Students choose a Dual Admission campus; are
- Guaranteed admission as a transfer; and as is for all TAGs
- Dual admission agreement includes an expected GPA and Course requirements
Who qualifies for Dual Admission?
•California residents and students qualifying for AB 540 benefits,
not admitted to a campus applied to has a 3.0 or higher HS GPA
•one or more A-G subject areas incomplete
•graduating from a California high school
Students who opt in may access and receive:
•Advising from UC to supplement CCC advising
•Invitations to various transfer-focused events ,and
Academic and Transfer support services
The UC Transfer Admissions Planner (UCTAP) will be a vital tool for both segments to optimize support for Dual admission students.
