Hi,

Last year, I got a D in Pre-Cal, AP calc ab, and english 3. It was Junior year. I was unable to make them up over the summer or first semester of my Senior year. I will be making up English 3 this second semester. I applied to the uc's in November. Since the ucs make their decisions before they get second semester grades, does my d automatically count me out for admission? I know ucs dont like d's, especially for a-g requirements. How would they treat me and my application in respect to that d? Would they make their decision solely on that d as a red flag indicator, regardless of my plan to redo the class?

(if further information is needed about my transcript, gpa, ec's, etc, I can post)

Your UC GPA is 3.04 according to your chances thread…the UC statfinder website indicates that 2% of candidates with that GPA were admitted in the last reported admissions cycle.

I mean, in general, though. Will a D disqualify anyone automatically, given the circumstance that they can only make the class up during second semester of their Senior year?

UC admissions are based on the 10th and 11th grade GPA, weighted and capped according to the UC formula. It would be hard to have a competitive GPA with a D in an academic class during that time. The possibility of making up the class second semester senior year doesn’t matter for admissions decisions that occur mid-year.
