UC Prompt #2: Writing About Someone Else okay?

<p>Note that it doesn't say YOUR personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution, or experience that is important.</p>

<p>Without giving away my planned topic, I'd like to write about something my father did as an artist that inspired me to become one as well. It's actually somewhat common, but I hope I can write it in a way that makes the essay unique and 'mine'. Is this fine or should I make the essay more about me?</p>

<p>(If it makes any difference, my first choice major is Undecided - School of Humanities and second choice, where applicable, is Graphic Design; I'm planning on minoring in art. I'm applying to the upper tier UCs.)</p>

<p>You could. But I would personally write more about myself. Because usually people who write about others tend to reveal more about them than themselves. Thus the people reading his/her essay won’t learn that much about him/her. You could still do it though. But just be sure that you don’t do such a thing.</p>

<p>Thanks…yeah, that was what I was worrying about. Any other opinions, especially if anyone’s tried it? I’ll keep thinking of topics.</p>
