UC Psych Chances

what are my chances?
average ccc student applying to ucb, ucla, uci as a psych major.
gpa:3.82; lots of ecs(work-24hrs/wk,volunteer 12hrs/wk, clubs, phi theta kappa& psi beta); prerecs and igetc are completed.
i know my major is impacted, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds competitve just like the rest of the applicants. You got no W's, couple of C's or anything like that? What oter EC's do you have? Also does your school offer Transfer Alliance Program (TAP), cuz it's basically 90% guaranteed admission to a uc at my school, mt. san antonio college.

UCI you will definitely get admitted to. LA and Berkeley you have a shot but they might be reaches since the standards for admission are getting higher every year.
I had psych friends at comm college a couple years ago and with 3.6-3.8 got rejected from LA and B. Even with work and volunteer it is really tough for psych students cause there are so many applicants for the psych major.
In this situation your personal statment could make the difference - for transfers they want to see an applicant who is serious in their major, who is truly interested in psych research. the best you can do is talk about why you chose pysch, what you hope to get out of ur pysch uc education, and what you want to do afterwards. perhaps you could mention some specific areas in which you are interested and show that you have some knowledge of it in your essay . . . this will make you sound more serious and dynamic than 'i find the human brain fascinating and i want to work with people' etc.
good luck!

3.8 is on the really high side for UCLA psych, so you should be fine there (but its always kinda arbitrary- no guarentees). Im not sure about the other schools, but youre pretty competitve. You should be fine.

Yes. You have an awesome gpa, maintain it and your'e in.

thanx for all the input!
in response to xsickxnick-- no Ws or Cs. i intern as a t.a. with blind/deaf children. i think i might want to make a career out of working with disabled children, but i am not positive. yes, they have a tap program at my college, but unfortunately i found out about it too late.
