Can someone please explain “qualifying by the statewide path” and “qualifying by the local path” for California residents?
Does this guarantee that you will be able to attend a UC, if the school has space? How do you know if you’re in the top 9% in your high school class… are you automatically in the top 9% in your high school class based on the UC Admissions Index for Top 9 Percent Statewide Path?
A UC probably means UCM.
ELC is based on a GPA comparison to past classes’ top 9% threshold. All GPAs for ELC are UC-recalculated ones, so do not assume that the rank your high school calculates is the same as what determines ELC.
There is a chart on the UC website that shows statewide path numbers. It’s a combination of gpa and test scores. And all it means is that you are guaranteed a spot at Merced.
if you are in the top 9% according to the UC index, is this considered as “added value” for the applications?
The UC’s do consider ELC eligibility in their application review but not a guarantee on an acceptance other than a spot at UCM if available.
