UC Question!!!

just wondering if you take a college course (community college), if you send the transcript to a UC, for example UCSD, would it affect your UC weighted gpa, also if you got a B in a community college course is it worth showing your transcript to UC’s?

if you want it to transfer then you should send it

what does that mean transfer it, would it affect my UC weighted gpa, im a high school student

Bumpppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp

it wouldn't affect your HS GPA but it would affect your college GPA if they accept the credits

actually, no the UC's will not add the jc GRADE to the UC transcript; they just add the units, and treat it as a "Pass".

But, OP, if you are asking will the jc class count towards UC Frosh eligibility and the calculation of your HS gpa, then yes. Your HS won't likely add the grade to your HS transcript unless its a required class for graduation, (e.g., in our district, they only show it as "Pass"), BUT UC will accept the jc grade and include it in their re-calc your HS gpa -- it's treated like a UC-approved honors or AP course.

ps -- my comments assume that the college class is really college-level material, not a retake of Algebra I or Geometry or other basic HS class.

thnx blue, im taking human biology at foothill community college in california, i have no idea if its UC approved
Where can i find out?

Generally, if it's an IGETC course, it s/b transferable to UC, i.e., it's a college level course and will be considered similar to an ap course for admission and UC gpa calc purposes.

According to Foothill's website, "Courses numbers 1-49 transfer to the UC."

Check the site below which should list the Foothill courses that are transferable to UC.

My son took a summer fine arts course at a community college. The credit (one semester) he earned satisfied his h.s. graduation requirement and UC admission requirement (course requirement “f”). In addition, although the community college course was not on the transfer list (see link bluebayou provided above), he filed a petition and was granted credit for a UC GE requirement as well. So yes, I’d send your community college transcript.
