UC questions

I’m currently a junior, and I believe I will get a 3.7-3.9 uc capped gpa. I got a 790 on Math II and for the SAT I believe I will 1450+. What UCs are viable? I live in Irvine if that helps(not likely).

Also, where do I find the list of impacted majors for the UCs? I cannot find them, because Im wondering if business administration/economics is impacted. Thanks!

Santa Cruz, Riverside and Merced are solid matches. SB, I and D could happen with strong ECs and great essays.

Being local to UCI has no influence.

When I googled UCD impacted majors this link was at the top of the paqe.

I bet each UC has a similar list near the top of your search results.

SDSU and CSULB bot have very strong Biz programs and are worth a look.

Business Admin is impacted at UCI so a very tough admit. Even though your test scores are outstanding, GPA is king with the UC’s. UCI could go either way. Definitely add UCR which has an excellent Business school but Bus Admin is not a direct admit major. You need to apply at the end of Sophomore year.
I agree with @NCalRent’s assessment and consider the other schools mentioned in the above post.

Good luck.

@NCalRent I tried searching “UCI impacted majors” and I could not find a similar list.

@Gumbymom would UCR, UCSC, UCI, UCD, UCSB be a safety or match? Also would it be possible for me to go to UCR for 2 years and then transfer to UCI business?

I googled UCI admission rate by major’. the second link on the page took me here:
http://www.oir.uci.edu/applications.html

it includes a treasure trove of admission data, including GPA by major

SAT by major

overall selectivity by major.

Looking at some of the data tables linked by @NCalRent, the selectivity rate for Business Admin at UCI as a Freshman applicant is 18.6% while for a transfer is 3.1%. Definitely apply as a Freshman but all the schools of interest. However, I would not go to UCR with the intention of transferring in 2 years, especially with that low of an acceptance rate.

I would put UCR as a Safety, UCSC as a Match, UCI/UCD and UCSB as High Matches. I would also add SDSU which has a highly ranked Business program and Cal State Fullerton as Safety schools. I would also look at Cal Poly SLO as a Match/High Match school for Bus admin.

Do UCs look at how competitive your high school is?

Yes they do
